Why I paint...

 

   Picking up a brush and painting is an act of prayer and meditation for me 
​
 As a believer, I have always felt most connected to God through nature and painting. Prayer comes most fluently and I feel the holy spirit's influence most powerfully when I am outdoors or in the "flow" of painting. 

​For me, there is not painting without writing, or writing without painting. They dovetail into one another in my work. So along with my watercolors, you'll find poetry, verses and journaling throughout my site and often in my work. 

I am looking for something in the subjects I paint- maybe  the spark of life is the best way to describe it- whether it be within a human face, in the movement of a dance, through the gift of a musician's instrument or in the language of a powerful landscape.

I paint because I have found healing and transformation through connecting with the gifts God imparted in me and I believe you can too. It's within each of us; it's about picking up our broken pieces and showing up to become the person we were created to be in this world through grace and healing that knows no boundaries, forgiving ourselves and others and accepting forgiveness from a loving God who wants to empower, heal and elevate each of us to do what he's created us to do. 


Whether you are searching for beauty and meaning through art, or just happened here, I believe you are reading this for a reason. I'm writing this because I understand finding yourself in dark place in life and know if I could find light and my path, you can too. 

As we live and breathe, we all have a unique and powerful light to share with the world.​  You and I have the ability to use what we were given to better ourselves and be a light to those around us. No matter what and starting today!
