Picking up a brush and painting is an act of prayer and meditation for me where I am able to cross a threshold into a deeper understanding of myself and the world around me. To me, there is not painting without writing, or writing without painting. So along with my watercolors, you will find poetry, verses and journaling throughout my site and often in my work.
My work is about life; and my life comes through my painting- my understanding, experiences, battles, and loves in life.
The beauty and the danger of our experiences in life -good and bad- is that they culminate in our hearts and becomes the shape of our lives.
Each of us have sides of ourselves that are light as well as dark, but we can choose at this moment to make our light shine brighter, change the shape of tomorrow, for ourselves and for the people around us.
Yesterday doesn't matter. What does matters is picking up our broken, obtuse, pieces and showing up to become the person we were created to be in this world.
I believe the way to healing and transformation is through accessing the sacred creativity God imparted in each of us. Our inner artist is a gateway to wholeness because Art can empower, heal and elevate each one of us. It is in the act of creating that we commune with our Creator. Time loses all meaning, all of our needs are met, and our being is filled with purpose and joy. I have a longing to share that with others, finding beauty, grace, power and joy in the "everyday" of life.
. As we live and breathe, we all have a unique and powerful light to share with the world. We have the ability to use what we were given for the betterment of ourselves and those around us. Leaving the world a better place.
